Is Chicken Low FODMAP?

Low FODMAP

Yes. Plain chicken contains no FODMAPs.

Main FODMAPs: None

Why

Plain meat, poultry, and fish have no carbohydrates, so there is nothing for gut bacteria to ferment. The trouble is almost always in the extras, such as marinades, seasoning blends, stock, and sauces.

Good to know

  • Pre-seasoned, marinated, and rotisserie chicken often contains garlic or onion powder.
  • Breaded chicken contains wheat.

Ways to use it

  • Season with salt, pepper, herbs, and garlic-infused oil
  • Use low FODMAP stock without onion or garlic
  • Serve with rice or potatoes
